Context

Environment and Social Governance (ESG) is a term promoted by mostly investor community to reduce the risk and add value to the business by focusing on Environment, Social and Governance issues. This reflects the latest shift in the field of Sustainability from Philanthropy to Corporate Social Responsibility to ESG.

There is an exponential growth in industries implementing this and also the demand for professionals with competence in this field.

According to a McKinsey report. “There's been a meteoric rise in ESG-oriented investing in recent years. As of 2019, global sustainable investment topped $30 trillion. That's up 68 percent since 2014 and a whopping tenfold increase since 2004. According to reports of Economic Times, “By 2025, ESG investments are also expected to cross $1 trillion”

One of the major challenges is the number of frameworks, indicators and measurements in each of these spaces ie Environment (E), Social (S) and Governance (G). However, we can overcome these by coming together and learning from one another through networking. The Conference shares experiences of people who are leading in this domain so as to make ESG implementation a wide-based initiative and facilitate investment flow to realize “Make in India” for the world concept. Professionals from different community need to interact and learn new subjects and acquire new qualifications to support their industries and also grow their professional career.

Demand for ESG Professionals

According to a report by global job site Indeed, jobs related to the ESG sector have grown over 223 per cent in India between April 2019 to April 2023
